Our Story
It all began in 2018, ignited by the vision of founding partners Juan Miguel Bueno Ros and Rosaura Heredia Pérez, two kindred spirits, united by a profound friendship and a shared passion for mezcal, who savour life through every sense.
Their pursuit of the extraordinary led them to the heart of Oaxaca, where they met Leonardo Agapito Hernández, a Master Mezcalero from San Baltazar Guelavila, heir to one of the most time-honoured lineages in the world of ancestral mezcal.
Through him, they discovered the elusive Coyote agave, a wild, untamed variety known for its unique properties. Yet it was the spirit’s bold citrus and smoky wood notes, its fierce intensity and unforgettable flavour, that truly captivated them. From this encounter, Mezcal Conde Otto was born a mezcal unlike any other.
Its name is steeped in legend. In Oaxaca, whispers tell of an agave that is aphrodisiac, joyful, and deeply magical.
“Conde” was chosen to honour this sacred elixir, a gift from the Earth, worthy of reverence.
“Otto”, the number eight, symbolises infinity, abundance, and pure mysticism.
The bottle itself evokes the elegance of a fine perfume, a tribute to the layered aromas within and the impeccable artistry behind its creation. Every drop is the result of a meticulous, fully handcrafted process.
